It’s tonight guys! The first ever Ribfest comedy show in Merrimack, NH. If things go well tonight the big cheese said I would be responsible for EVERYTHING next year. Fingers crossed.

Ribfest is a three day music and food festival that brings in 30,000-40,000 people over all three days. It’s a big established thing; let’s see if we can get comedy to be a recognized and appreciate thing there too!

Last night’s show was really good. I’m considering posting the video because I felt pretty solid. (Even though my head was kind of cut off for the first couple minutes.) There were over 40 people there and I was third of five comics which is a great place to be. Crowd was happy and warmed up. Really, it was a positive show. I would definitely consider doing it again sometime.

I really like the flow of my normal ten minute set. It makes sense, you know? I go from talking about me then to my sisters then to dating in relation to my sisters then dating then kids then abortion. It feels good to have that flow, it makes transitions easier and it makes it easier to remember the order while on stage.

Comedian Shaun Connolly was on the show last night. I haven’t seen him in 10 months maybe? A year? He said that I have really improved since he saw me perform last. I thanked him and told him I’ve been working hard and he said it certainly shows. It’s nice to hear that others notice my progress. Sometimes I feel like I’m not getting much better but I guess it’s easier for outsiders to see changes more clearly. It’s like losing weight or taking up smoking and waiting for your teeth to yellow.

Improv Level Two Class Five In Review

Improv last night was better than last week. Even though we did an object work exercise that I sucked at because it took me six tries to get it right. After class Kylee (current classmate and friend in progress) said that she thinks that game was so hard for me because I’m really good at object work. I’m pretty okay at interacting with imaginary things and it’s clear to the audience what I’m doing. This game would work way better with non-specific object work which I’m apparently not good at. I mean, that should be a positive thing right? Being good at and specific with object work… I’m counting it as a good thing.

My instructor told us about when she went to Second City in Chicago for open auditions and about how it was literately the worst experience of her life. That was six years ago. She made it sound horrid. Can’t wait to hate it myself!

It’s the thingy that is flying around the solar system taking bad ass pictures of Saturn and shit so it uses a technique called Gravity Assist in order to jump through the solar system. It’s initial launch sent it into Venus’ orbit. So then it takes a free ride on Venus’ orbit before it launches briefly to hop on to the next orbit… and so and so on until it reaches it’s final destination. So without it’s free rides, it would never be able to get where it’s going. There is simply no way to carry the fuel needed to get to Saturn. You’re going to Saturn baby. I am getting my wisdom teeth out on July 19th and will be out of work for about three days and I would really like to have a complete first draft to revise in those three days. A comedic screenplay in 5 weeks may not seem ambitious but I assure you with my work and show schedule it is.

I’m working on the outline and character summaries now. Looking forward to creating and perfecting something that came from my little head. I have written a feature length screenplay before but it was with my friend Katie, she she helped keep me motivated. I’m curious to see if I can motivate myself to finish one by myself.

I bought Writing Movies for Fun and Profit by Thomas Lennon to assist.

I was invited onto the birthday show for Boston area comic Anthony Scibelli this Friday night. I’m not doing a set but I’ll be in a sketch/scripted roast of the birthday boy.

I’m so glad he thought of me to be involved. I rarely get to go to Boston and hang out and I don’t have to work Saturday. I guess that just means it’s time for my bi-yearly social time with the Boston Comedy scene.

Doodle Show in the Works?

I lost my iPad stylus a couple months ago but I found it this week! So I’m doodling again. I am honestly most happy when I am drawing a doodle or giving it a backstory. I wish I could explain it. I create something silly from nothing and usually get a pretty good response when I post them on Facebook.

A few people have asked if I plan on making a show with them. Make them interact with each other or exist in the same universe. The answer is yes. I just need to figure out how.

So guys, Cade (comedian) and I broke up. I’m spending the night at my mom’s. She’s glad because we are going over how to use Facebook and I’m explaining why I hadn’t already liked her profile picture.

I think this is for the best. The last thing I need is a relationship with my schedule the way it is. But it would be safe to assume all of my posts for the next little while are typed with a twinge of disappointment.

Hosting Headliners In Review

Hosting Headliners this past Saturday went well. Rob Steen (booker) was trying a showcase, so more comics on than normal. I did 15, Matt Barry did 11, Jesse Bickford did 15, Will Noonan did 25 and Rob did 40. With a 10 minute intermission the show went pretty long. Everyone did really well, especially Matt Barry. He’s always been good but maybe I haven’t seen him in a while because he was much better than even I remembered.

I’m hosting there again at the end of the month.
