One Girl's Journey to Saturday Night Live

My name is Lauren Bancroft and I'm from from Nashua, NH.

I started this Tumblr in December of 2010 to document my path to go from who and where I am now, to being a cast member of Saturday Night Live. I have a realistic plan with attainable goals that I work very hard at every week.

I do stand up. I study improv. I write sketches. I work hard.

Ten phases. Eight years. One goal.

I’ve been kind of taking it easy as far as performing stand up goes.

At least in the past couple weeks or so. I’ve still gotten up at least once a week but nothing like the 3-4 weekly shows I was maintaining in August.

I have shows next Wednesday through Saturday so that will be good. The Saturday show will be the second time I host Headliners so I packed in a few shows before that. I want to make sure I’m not rusty at all.

I feel like I had the worst week ever the week before last. The first week of September. I was like, “I am incredibly unhappy. LET’S CHANGE EVERYTHING.” But ‘change everything’ just meant move in with my dad, buy a new car, have a come-to-Jesus conversation with the big guys at work and socially it meant distancing myself from some people and getting closer to others. I’m feeling pretty settled now and am in a mood to make a lot of money at Texas Roadhouse so I am hoping to pick up two extra shifts. I don’t like where I’ve been financially so I think I will give up a few upcoming weekends and build the checking account up a bit.

I feel like I need some help from Old Lauren, pre stand-up Lauren. She used to work 80 hours a week happily. I think she needs to come back for a few weeks. But the stand up is staying… Obviously.

Also, I still don’t have a TV. So if anyone knows a site I can use to stream SNL tomorrow night that would be greatly appreciated.
