So the show at Panda Wok did not go well at all.
There was a crowd of about 15-20 people; not nearly the crowd that was there last month for the fundraiser. It was about 50 people last time.
We were told we could do 8-10 for time so I wrote up my set and was feeling good. I ate before the show and didn’t throw up so that’s awesome.
Kayla Avery said she wanted to dress up so I did too. I was sporting heels, make-up and a dress that made my boobs look nice. This was a bad idea. I am not saying that I did poorly because I looked good, but it certainly didn’t help. When I tell jokes in jeans and sneakers I can get away with jokes about being alone but it doesn’t make sense when I’m looking like I’m trying to get laid. I did 8.5 minutes when I could have bailed sooner so I’m glad I stuck to it.
They didn’t like me at all. I have done poorly before but usually it’s because I’m nervous or unprepared. I’ve never felt like I bombed because the audience didn’t like my jokes. And that feeling is totally not a good feeling. Obviously I realize that is going to happen since I don’t plan on slowing down with stand up. I will run into crowds whose taste I am not and I truly am okay with that.
Also Matt Barry told me he reads my Tumblr regularly. (His name most recently appeared on here because he beat me in the first round of the New England’s Best Bar Comic Competition at Penuches in Concord, NH this past Monday.) That was weird to hear. I know I keep this up to date for me and for my followers but for someone I know to read it regularly is nuts to me. He isn’t the first person to tell me that but I just think why would anyone even care…?

that’s weird because I can’t tell you how many unfunny girls I’ve laughed at JUST because they were pretty. this is a joke?
