One Girl's Journey to Saturday Night Live

My name is Lauren Bancroft and I'm from from Nashua, NH.

I started this Tumblr in December of 2010 to document my path to go from who and where I am now, to being a cast member of Saturday Night Live. I have a realistic plan with attainable goals that I work very hard at every week.

I do stand up. I study improv. I write sketches. I work hard.

Well last night was not what I expected it to be at all!

I got my shift at Texas Roadhouse covered last night on pretty short notice (noon) because I wasn’t feeling my best. Around 5:30 I got a text from a lady comic in Boston asking if I could fill in on a mock/comedy dating show at Grandma’s Basement because another girl couldn’t make it.

I felt bad because I had gotten my shift covered so I could stay in but by the time I was invited on the show I was feeling better so I went.

There were hilarious and ridiculous questions we had to answer and I think my answers were okay. Not the best but not the worst. And everyone was stoked I could fill in since they were short a bachelorette.

I liked hanging out with the Boston comics but I don’t often because I live about an hour north. When I was leaving one said, “So, are you moving down here or what? You keep doing this to yourself. You should just move here.”

Hmm.
